I picked up a 50gr. tin of this tobacco the other day in my local B&M
and it's just fantastic.I remember trying this tobacco 7 or 8 years ago
when I was trying all kinds of different tobaccos looking for "That
Holy Grail",and wasn't overly impressed.Well something sure has
changed, probably my taste has become more sophisticated after exposure
to all the blends I've smoked since then.10 years ago I used to think
that Erinmore was the best pipe tobacco there was in the world.
I've been looking around but it doesn't seem you can buy this in
bulk. How would you guys compare this Veermaster to Rattrays Marlin
Flake or Old Growie?

Hi Stephen!

I love the HV too.
You can buy it in 250g pouches from Dan Pipe, Hambourg, Germany. It is
packed in the form of very looong, loosly folded flakes. The URL of DP
is:
http://www.danpipe.de
The 250g "Spar-Pack" is only 28.30 euro.

Hope this helps.

Mellow puffs and dry ashes!

Not as sweet as MF but definetely more so than OG, more chocolate and
zest than both of them and qualitywise up on par or better and more
consistent than some of K&Ks VAs I recently smoked. AFAIK Danpipe is
sitting on a huge stash of nicely aged first class VAs, hence you can
enjoy Beerblaster right out of a freshly opened tin (after some
airing).

PS: I picked up my last tin 2 months ago from "Jansen's
Tabakantiquariat" in my old hometown Hamburg, more of a tobacco museum
than B&M, highly rec.

I think HV is a sweeter, lighter, milder, less stoved Virginia w/ less
nicotine than Marlin and Gowrie. I enjoy all three.

It reminds me of Marlin flake but less sweet, with a hint of a pungent
bitter-sweet taste akin to a fine belgian chocolate.
